With hardware specs matching the 235, what does the extra A in 235A mean for AI?

For AI purposes the A changes nothing measurable. The 235A shares one design with the 235 — a 27 TOPS NPU for resident light work and 14 cores at a 5GHz boost with VNNI for short inference bursts — and whatever the extra letter signifies, it adds nothing and removes nothing. In daily use the two behave identically.

If this AI tier sits in your budget, the 235A will not disappoint, but do not hunt for a secret inside the suffix. Spend that energy on the machine's cooling and memory instead, because those are where the AI experience actually lands, and they are the parts you can change after purchase.
