GeeCoolIt earns a slot — a secondary one. 18 cores/36 threads over four DDR4 channels still saturate on bulk embeddings, corpus cleaning and parallel small jobs, precisely the chores that want many threads and could not care less about boost clocks. The 128GB ceiling, though, ends any ambition of staging large models on board.
If the platform already sits in a drawer, fill the memory, repurpose it as a data-preparation workhorse and it pays its electricity bill. Building fresh around it does not compute: 4.4GHz single-core and DDR4 trail the current generation by a wide margin, and a display card is still mandatory. The same money on a modern platform with a GPU returns far more.
