How much can Core i7 13650HX's performance change between power modes, and when should performance mode be used?

Performance mode on the 13650HX means a higher power ceiling and faster fans: a real help for sustained loads like rendering, compiling, and AAA games, and nearly irrelevant for light loads like browsing, which just gets noisier and thirstier.

Choose by task: heavy work plugged in with performance mode, light work on balanced. The gains differ per machine — check the control center's power and fan levels and run one task in both modes yourself for a reliable comparison.
