Is a laptop with Core i7 12800HX good enough for gaming, and does the CPU or GPU matter more?

The Core i7 12800HX is a 16-core/24-thread HX processor. In gaming laptops, GPU TGP matters more than the CPU badge: the same GPU at 60W vs 140W can differ by 30%+ — the industry's favorite trap. When shopping a 12800HX gaming laptop, check three things: MUX/discrete-GPU mode (without it you lose frames), sustained CPU power in performance mode, and your target resolution — 1080p high-refresh leans on the CPU, while 1440p/4K is basically all GPU.

Nail those three and your money goes where it counts.
