Question 1

How should the core and thread counts of Core Ultra 7 355 be understood, and do more cores help in games?

Accepted Answer

8 cores, 8 threads, a higher-clocked LGA1851 part — balanced for gaming and productivity, the mainstream sweet spot on desktop. 8 cores covers most people; stepping up to more cores only pays off in specific software.

Question 2

How does Core Ultra 7 355 handle gaming, and how large is the gap versus cheaper models?

Accepted Answer

An 8-core desktop chip has ample gaming headroom — high-refresh 1080p and esports are covered, with the GPU as the bottleneck.

Pair by resolution: 5070 Ti-class for 1440p, GPU-first at 4K. Core count correlates weakly with game frame rates, so extra CPU spending has limited payoff.

Question 3

What motherboard suits Core Ultra 7 355, and how should power delivery, memory, and ports be balanced?

Accepted Answer

The Core Ultra 7 355 runs LGA1851 with 800-series chipsets. A B860's power delivery is enough; move to Z890 only for more M.2/PCIe. An ordinary B860's VRM already handles an 8-core non-K chip — don't pay extra for premium power-phase marketing.

Question 4

What cooler does Core Ultra 7 355 need, and how do gaming and sustained all-core loads differ?

Accepted Answer

A 100–200 RMB dual-tower or big single-tower handles stock operation easily; gaming draws far less than all-core rendering. Without unlocking power, keep the cooler budget under 200 RMB and spend the rest on the GPU.
