Is a laptop with Core i9 14900HX good enough for gaming, and does the CPU or GPU matter more?

The Core i9 14900HX is a 24-core, 32-thread laptop flagship. On gaming laptops, the dGPU's TGP and MUX support matter more than the CPU: the 14900HX only pays off with RTX 4080/4090-class parts, while a mid-range GPU becomes the bottleneck regardless.

High-refresh 1080p and CPU-heavy online games lean on the CPU; 1440p/4K is mostly GPU-bound. The same GPU model runs at very different TGP across laptops, so verify real power and cooling figures rather than comparing model names.
