How much can Core i7 14700HX's performance change between power modes, and when should performance mode be used?

On the 14700HX, performance mode raises power when plugged in for heavy work or gaming; balanced serves office. Timing the same task in both modes gives this unit's actual gap.

Mode gains differ by brand and chassis, and marketing numbers often diverge from measured results — rely on a test of the actual machine.
