How many cores and threads does Core i5 13500HX have, and is it suitable for gaming and video editing in a laptop?

The Core i5 13500HX is 14 cores and 20 threads (6 performance + 8 efficiency) on Raptor Lake, up to 4.7GHz max turbo, 24MB L3, 157W max turbo power. It was the staple of 2023's entry HX gaming laptops; specs are barely below the 13600HX (slightly lower clocks) at a clearly lower price, making it the value pick among i5 HX parts.

Gaming, editing, and compiling are all covered, and the laptops around it tend to be value-oriented. The HX rule holds as always: the chassis's power release and cooling set the ceiling.
