How should a GPU be paired with Ryzen 7 7700X for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K gaming?

The Ryzen 7 7700X is an 8-core, 16-thread Zen 4 part at 105W. Strong single-core makes 1080p high refresh and 1440p comfortable, and it games nearly identically to the 7600X — the 8-core premium mostly pays for multithreaded productivity.

Pair the GPU by resolution: upper-mid card at 1440p, flagship-class budget at 4K. At 105W it runs hot under load, so don't cheap out on cooling. The GPU is usually the bottleneck, and CPU gaps largely vanish above 1440p.
